These Terms of Service govern your use of NDlexicon. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using NDlexicon ("the Platform", "our Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Platform.
2. Description of Service
NDlexicon is a community-driven, evidence-based platform for neurodiversity terminology. We provide:
- A comprehensive lexicon of neurodivergence-related terms and definitions
- Community discussion forums and Q&A functionality
- User profiles and contribution tracking
- Content moderation and community management tools
- Educational resources and accessibility features
3. User Accounts and Registration
3.1 Account Creation
To access certain features of the Platform, you may need to create an account. We currently support authentication through:
- Google OAuth
- Email and password registration
3.2 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Providing accurate and complete information during registration
3.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings.
4. Community Guidelines and Content Standards
4.1 Community Values
Our community is built on principles of:

- Evidence-based content: Grounding information in reliable sources
- Accessibility first: Designing for diverse cognitive needs
- Inclusivity: Welcoming all perspectives and identities

4.2 Prohibited Content
The following content is prohibited on our Platform:
- Harmful, abusive, or discriminatory content targeting individuals or groups
- Misinformation or deliberately false information about neurodivergence
- Content that promotes harmful "treatments" or conversion therapies
- Spam, advertising, or commercial content not related to our mission
- Content that violates intellectual property rights
- Personal information or doxxing of other users
- Content that violates applicable laws or regulations
4.3 Content Moderation
We employ community moderators and automated systems to review content. Moderators are volunteers from the neurodivergent community who help maintain our standards. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend users who violate these guidelines.
5. User-Generated Content
5.1 Content Ownership
You retain ownership of content you create and submit to the Platform. By submitting content, you grant NDlexicon a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the Platform's operation.
5.2 Content Accuracy
While we strive for accuracy, user-generated content represents the views of individual contributors. We encourage evidence-based submissions and community review, but cannot guarantee the accuracy of all content.
5.3 Content Removal
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable laws. Users may appeal content removals through our moderation system.
6. Privacy and Data Protection
6.1 Data Collection
We collect and process the following types of data:
- Account Information: Name, email address, profile information
- Usage Data: Platform interactions, contributions, and community participation
- Technical Data: IP addresses, browser information, and session data
- Authentication Data: OAuth tokens and authentication credentials

We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe content on our Platform infringes your rights, please contact us for resolution.
8. Medical Disclaimer
Important: NDlexicon provides educational information only and is not a substitute for professional medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic advice. Always consult qualified healthcare providers for medical concerns. Our content is for informational purposes and should not be used for self-diagnosis or treatment decisions.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NDlexicon and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Platform.
10. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NDlexicon, its operators, and contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.
12. Third-Party Services
Our Platform integrates with third-party services:
- Supabase: Database and authentication services
- Google OAuth: Authentication provider
- Netlify: Hosting and deployment platform
These services have their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices or policies.
13. Accessibility Commitment
We are committed to maintaining WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. If you encounter accessibility barriers, please contact us so we can address them promptly.
14. International Use
NDlexicon is operated from the United States and is subject to U.S. laws. Users accessing the Platform from other jurisdictions do so at their own risk and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or via email. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Termination
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. Upon termination:
- Your account access will be suspended or removed
- Your contributed content may remain on the Platform for community benefit
- Certain provisions of these Terms will survive termination
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where our operations are based, without regard to conflict of law principles.
18. Dispute Resolution
We encourage resolving disputes through direct communication. For unresolved issues, disputes will be handled through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules.
19. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

These Terms of Service are effective as of January 24, 2025. We reserve the right to update these terms as our Platform evolves to better serve the neurodivergent community.
